You Can Create Your Own Landscaping Design

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I bet you could do with some good landscaping ideas. Previously, it was enough to just mow the lawn. Ok, so you have decided that your new hobby is going to be landscaping. That being said, you need to think about landscaping designs for your yard, as well as for the garden.

A good place to start is by looking at your neighbours landscaping designs. This is not to say that you should emulate the landscaping designs of your neighbours, but at the same time you can get ideas from them that you might not have considered otherwise.

A popular landscaping design that many people like to incorporate in their yard is flowers under trees in a circular border manner. Don’t forget to take into account which flowers you are going to plant as some need more light than others. As an example, if you have a tree that has thick leaves then don’t plant flowers around the base that require a lot of sunlight.

Something else that you need to think about when it comes to landscaping design is whether or not you want to use mulch. A lot of people like to use cedar chips in their garden, but over time being exposed to the elements they lose their natural colour and lighten considerably. However, there is now a synthetic woodchip you can use that will keep its colour a lot longer than the natural variety.

Bushes are very popular in landscaping design. This is usually for privacy reasons. If you think that you want to have bushes as well, be aware that they need to be pruned at certain times during the year. The bushes will become overgrown if you dont get this done.

Your climate should always be a main consideration when planning your landscaping designs. Living in a temperate climate has its advantages as you can plant flowers that will be around for a few seasons.

For more information on landscaping designs, go to your local garden center and ask customer service representatives. You can also ask various landscaping companies to come visit your yard and give estimates/ideas. You are sure to find the right landscaping design ideas for your yard with the proper research.
